Golfer Has Lucky 7th Hole in One At UGA College Chapter Hall of Fame Foundation Golf Tournament in Athens, GA
Farmington, Michigan (PRWEB) September 10, 2014 -- Making a hole in one is a golfer’s dream. For one golfer, Wendell Couch of Greensboro, GA, it’s been more than just a “stroke of luck”.
Wendell Couch has always had a passion for the game. He spent more than 40 years in the golf business and currently volunteers as a rules official for the Georgia State Golf Association and several collegiate golf events. It was back in 1968 when he had his first hole in one and he’s been on a lucky streak ever since. His most recent hole in one has been the most memorable to date. He was playing in the UGA Chapter College Hall of Fame Foundation Golf Tournament at the Athens Country Club with former NFL Quarterback, Brad Johnson along with a few other friends.
It was a shot-gun start and they were on the last hole. Couch and Johnson were looking at the truck and remarked at how incredible it would be to win the Ford F-150. Couch recalls, “It was hole #5, 178 yards and we couldn’t see the hole. I was playing a Mizuno 5 wood that my son had given me. As we approached the green, I heard, ‘it’s in the hole’ and sure enough my yellow ball that I was playing was in the cup!”
The Ford Hole in One Prize Package, administered by J. Ryder Group, was a complete success all the way around for Couch and the sponsoring auto dealer, Akins Ford in Winder, GA. “This was my 7th hole in one and it sure was the most exciting. I won a two-year lease on a brand new Ford F-150 truck - and I loved the truck so much, I actually bought it,” said Couch.
“We were so excited to learn about Wendell Couch's hole in one experience! We've had great success in working with our dealers to bring these amazing prizes to tournaments. It not only presents event organizers with a powerful tool to attract players and sponsors to their events, but it also provides our dealers with an excellent marketing opportunity and great exposure in the communities they serve." said Jamie Ryder, Founder & CEO of J. Ryder Group and Golf Digest Planner
