Orlando, FL (PRWEB) September 10, 2014
The Florida Writers Association will present the 13th Annual Florida Writers Conference at the Orlando Marriott Lake Mary from Thursday, October 23 – Sunday, October 26. The Conference offers workshops, presentations by New York Times bestselling authors, and opportunities to interview with some 13 executives accepting pitches, including agents, acquiring editors for publishing companies and film producers. Attendees learn about writing, editing, and publishing from the some of the publishing industry’s most experienced and celebrated professionals.
This year the conference offers more than 50 workshops that cover the gamut, from craft, to living a good writer’s life, to business, to genre.
A few of the topics: “Pitching your Story” by movie producer Jillian Stein; “Writing the Query Letter” by literary agent Jennie Goloboy; “The Future of Digital Publishing” by literary agent Saritza Hernandez; “Drafting a New York Times Bestseller” by NYT bestselling author Mary Burton; “Reading Your Work in Public” by publisher Matt Peters and editor Melanie Neale; “Financials of Book Selling: Sales and Income Tax” by publisher Cheyenne Knopf; “Social Media for Writers” by marketer/publicist Sarah Nicolas; “Writing Believable New Adult” by NYT bestselling author Jennifer Armentrout; and “Selling Your Work to Hollywood” by producers Khris Baxter and Jillian Stein.
Five panels offer plenty of excitement and collective experience on pitching, writing sex scenes, publishing with an agent, publishing without an agent, and transmedia. The conference is also the time when the winners of the prestigious Royal Palm Literary Awards are announced in a gala, Hollywood-themed ceremony.
Miscellaneous events include book signings, meet-and-greets, open mic, networking breakout sessions, and more. The full-conference package covers events from Friday, October 24, through Sunday, October 26, but for the first time, workshops will be offered on Thursday night, October 23, for an additional fee of $35.
Registration is available now at: http://www.shop.floridawriters.net/category.sc?categoryId=64. Registration for the Friday-Sunday event is $355 for members and $410 for non-members, including all meals throughout the weekend.
