LEAF College Savings Launches Education Gift Card
McLean, VA (PRWEB) September 10, 2014 -- In celebration of College Savings Month, LEAF College Savings is introducing a new education gift card. LEAF gift cards can be purchased on LEAF's website, http://www.leafsavings.com, in amounts from $25 to $1,000. Recipients can redeem their cards on the LEAF site and transfer the full face value to any 529 college savings plan in the US.
Co-founder Chris Duffus said, “LEAF re-imagines the way people give the gift of college savings making it simple, secure, and social for family and friends, and even organizations, to contribute to a child’s higher education.”
Gift card themes are available for a number of occasions or you can upload your own picture. You can send a card by email, Facebook post, physical card (which LEAF sends to you or the recipient), or you can print the card at your desk. LEAF adds a small activation fee to the purchase price - there is no charge to redeem a card. If a card is not redeemed within 90 days, LEAF refunds the face value to the purchaser.
“In response to both our national surveys and special preview events, participants said again and again that - beyond how easy it was to use - the most important feature was the assurance that their gift was actually going to a child’s college savings plan and not spent on something else.” noted co-founder Josh Bixler.
The LEAF College Savings team’s singular goal is to empower the over 70 million children in the U.S. with the opportunity to attain a college education and participate in the “American Dream.”
“We are now a generation over-burdened with student loans that, ironically, at the push of a button, can make a purchase online with a credit card though cannot as easily make a contribution to a college savings plan. LEAF changes that!” added Duffus.
Even a small gift can really make a difference. Many college savings 529 plans now can be opened with as little as $25.00. So, even for a parent who hasn’t yet opened a plan, a small gift can get them headed in the right direction. LEAF will regularly send them emails encouraging them to open a plan and provide links to industry resources.
The gift cards are issued by CBW Bank, Member FDIC.
LEAF also offers an employee benefit that supports regular payroll contributions to a child's plan and optional employer match.
