We are always excited to work with Lenovo, and testing compatibility for our Thunderbolt expansion chassis has been a seamless experience.
San Diego, California (PRWEB) September 18, 2014
Magma has announced compatibility with the Lenovo ThinkPad W540 mobile workstation. Magma has been working closely with Lenovo on a range of expansion chassis compatibility tests, ensuring that data speed and integrity meets certain standards over the Thunderbolt protocol. Networking, instrumentation, audio, storage and video cards are now available to Lenovo ThinkPad W540 users, further expanding their workstation and workflow options.
The Lenovo ThinkPad W540 is one of the first mobile workstations to offer Thunderbolt ports, allowing creative professionals to take advantage of the 10 Gbps speed to connect peripherals. Paired with a Magma Thunderbolt Expansion chassis, creative professionals will be able to work faster and more efficiently with 4K video files, multi-track audio files, and connect to fast networked storage.
Industrial automation, test and measurement professionals can now use a variety of PCI Express cards to control and access processes previously available only as part of a tradition desktop workstation configuration. Thunderbolt technology dramatically increases the number and types of applications that the Lenovo ThinkPad W540 can be used in.
“We are always excited to work with Lenovo, and testing compatibility for our Thunderbolt expansion chassis has been a seamless experience,” says Julia Elbert, vice president of engineering at Magma. “When we receive opportunities to open up technology to more users, we always take the time to ensure our clients will have the same experience over all platforms.”
“The combination of the ThinkPad W540 mobile workstation and Thunderbolt expansion for support of PCI Express adapter cards is an exciting new initiative that will benefit our customers.” says Victor Rios, vice president and general manager, Workstation, Lenovo. “We look forward to working with Magma to enable the next generation of visionaries with new and innovative solutions.”
Magma’s full line of Thunderbolt chassis are compatible with the Lenovo ThinkPad W540 including, the ExpressBox 1T, ExpressBox 3T, and ROBEN-3 series expansion chassis. This offers ThinkPad W540 users a range of options from single-slot expansion, to multi-slot expansion, and desktop or rack mount solutions.
