Third annual DigiFest South digital arts festival to be held, Sept. 16-18, in Shreveport-Bossier
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) September 10, 2014 -- DigiFest South, an arts and technology festival held annually in Shreveport-Bossier, will present a three-day schedule of events during the third annual DigiFest South, Sept. 16-18, at various locations throughout Shreveport-Bossier. The goals of this festival are: to show students the many lucrative career opportunities available to those who have creative education with a strong technology emphasis; to demonstrate the significant economic and cultural impact of the digital media industry in today’s society; and to emphasize the value of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education model. DigiFest South kicks off with the DigiTalks Luncheon, 11:30 a.m., Sept. 16 at the Margaritaville Resort Casino’s Paradise Theater in Bossier City. The luncheon will feature talks by Janine Jordan of the Electronic Music Alliance and Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne. Admission is $20 for the general public who wish to eat lunch, or free for those who do not wish to eat lunch. The DigiTalks Luncheon is hosted by the Arklatex Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). DigiFest South continues with the Technology Expo Floor Show at CenturyLink Center, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Sept. 17-18. Other main festival events at CenturyLink Center include a Digital Art Exhibit, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Sept. 17-18, and a series of panels and workshops covering the past, present and future of the creative tech world, 1:30-5 p.m., Sept. 17-18. DigiPitch, an event showcasing “technopreneurs” who will pitch their innovative business ideas to a panel of potential investors, will take place, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17 at CenturyLink Center. Admission to all events at CenturyLink Center is free and open to the public. CenturyLink Center is located at 2000 CenturyLink Center Drive in Bossier City.
Ken Jordan of legendary electronic music duo The Crystal Method is headlining the DigiFest Concert and Laser Light Show this year. He will be joined by local artists, Nanolog and Ryan Viser, with performances by the Louisiana Dance Collective and Vicky’s School of Dance. The DigiFest Concert featuring Ken Jordan will be held, 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 in downtown Shreveport’s Red River Entertainment District.
