While the 2015 Ford Explorer has seen little change in its exterior, it is still showing very high ratings in comfort, safety, and features. New to the 2015 Ford Explorer is the sport appearance package available in the XLT trim which includes special wheels, a darker grille, and heated leather seats with a faux-suede interior. With seating for 7, this is the quintessential family vehicle.
This three row SUV boasts plenty of cargo space with a fold-away third row seat that can be power-operated depending on the trim level. The 2015 Ford Explorer is equipped with seats that are more supportive and comfortable for the front seat passengers with softer cushions and more side bolstering along with being power-operated with heating control. There is also plenty of head and legroom in the front two rows even with the sunroof option.
Equipped with exceptional safety features like MyKey, great outward visibility, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, steering wheel mounted controls and a rearview camera, the 2015 Ford Explorer is absolutely one of the safest vehicles on the road today. New this year to increase the safety of the Explorer is a special “curve control” that assists stability control, which adapts throttle and brake to upcoming corners. Optional inflatable rear-seat belts are also available as part of a package including blind-spot monitors.
In terms of available technology, the 2015 Ford Explorer is far above most of its competitors including some of the luxury vehicles. The most prominent feature is the MyFord Touch system that replaces buttons and dials with an LCD screen and voice commands that can change the climate, audio, make hands-free calls and get directions through a voice activated navigation system. Other available options include a power sunroof, heated steering wheel, automatic headlights, power lift gate, premium audio system, 20-inch wheels, ventilated seats, active park assist and a power folding third row seat.
Additional changes to the 2015 Ford Explorer include expanding some of the features of the Sport trim to the Limited trim like heated second-row seats and adaptive cruise control as options and automatic headlights are now standard.
The 2015 Ford Explorer is a front wheel drive SUV that has an optional all-wheel-drive set-up. No longer built on a truck platform and with good acceleration and quick steering, the 2015 Explorer handles and rides with confidence.
