Today, Connected World magazine, connectedworld.com, releases its prestigious 2015 CW 100, an annual ranking of the technology leaders based on their contributions to the connected devices marketplace.

This year, more than just listing the industry's top 100 technology innovators, each company is being ranked on their game-changing technologies, products, services, and commitment to enabling connectivity as determined by the editors of Connected World. Published since 2003, this annual list has recognized companies across the globe. This ranking is considered the most definitive and influential directory when it comes to looking at the shifting demands of the market.
“The CW 100 is a very elite group among the technology elite. The real leaders on this list are driven by imagination and creativity. It’s not all about profits. Far more impressive are the smaller companies this year that found their way into the market and are advancing their position and staking their claim as one of the elite,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director, Connected World magazine and president, Specialty Publishing Co.
The CW 100 Top 10 List:
On this year’s list, M&As (mergers and acquisitions) showed the fourth highest at 27, trailing 2013 which saw the most notable growth at 41. Based on looking at the market potential and organizations desire to acquire, the industry is on pace for at least a 17% M&A increase during same time period over the previous year. Since Connected World began tracking M&As in 2003, there has been a grand total to date of 262, including companies that offer software, hardware, and communications services.
The list is largely an illustration of the marketplace as it stands today. For 2015, the CW 100 sees LTE (long-term evolution) chipset makers and other providers making their mark with more companies dominating the list. In fact, many smaller companies and even some fairly new faces have made their presence known, entering the market with a vengeance and unseeding many traditional M2M players in an effort to make an even stronger impact in M2M and IoT.
OEMs (original-equipment manufacturers) and application software providers have popped onto this list unlike ever before, showing their commitment to changing the way they service products and deliver solutions to their customers, which, as a result, has helped some to take very prominent positions, perhaps, in an effort to make their presence known in M2M and IoT.
