"Sustainable Connectivity Around the Globe" ECI Telecom's Third Sustainability Report is Now Online
Petach Tikveh, Israel (PRWEB UK) 16 September 2014 -- ECI Telecom, a global provider of next-generation network solutions, today announced that it has published the company’s third Sustainability Report, "Sustainable Connectivity Around the Globe" covering the company’s 2013 impact on society and the environment. The report was prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 guidelines. GRI is a leading organization in the sustainability field and promotes the use of sustainability reporting. ECI was one of the first 20 companies in the world to publish a G4 report for 2012, and is one of the first to publish a second G4 report for 2013.

"From social to business advances, 2013 has been a great year for ECI's sustainability initiative, including our first 1 terabit breakthrough trial in Germany with the Tera Santa consortium, our iEvent for innovation, where we generated more than 180 new ideas (2 are patent pending) to our Good Deeds Day, with employees from India, Germany and Russia joining our corporate effort in 'doing good'."
The report also contains information on related ECI global activities including supporting a government compliant upgrade, which improved the quality of service, reliability and availability of power for households in southern Poland. In Switzerland, ECI connected a network of Swiss universities and research institutes using 100G connectivity for access to information and research databases. In addition, in 2013, ECI implemented a new suite of customer service solutions aimed at optimizing the customer experience. The new Voice of the Customer system ensures that ECI has a complete picture of how customers are served and where improvements can be made.
"Our sustainability efforts have affected many throughout this past year and across the globe," states Edwards. "Tens of millions of people will benefit from ECI's involvement in Mexico's new digital inclusion project, ECI's 100G capabilities and multiservice packet optical transport system became an integral part of a new project in Myanmar and at the FIFA Under 17's Women's World Cup in Costa Rica, we provided an emergency solution to heavy data-transmission needs."
2013 also demonstrated the continued greening of ECI. From an environmental perspective, ECI reduced its energy consumption by 53% over the last 5 years - that's the equivalent of powering more than 1,100 homes for a full year with electricity. Also reduced by 53% over the last 5 years, were emissions from electricity and fuel usage. Water, a priceless commodity in the Middle East, enjoyed a 19% reduction in consumption. Overall waste was reduced by an impressive 75% during the same period.
ECI started reporting in line with the UN Global Compact principles and for the past three years has been reporting under the GRI framework.
