VideoPropulsion Preps Hailstorm MPEG Transcoders For OTT and TV Everywhere Applications for Mobile TV Delivery at IBC 2014
Amsterdam, Netherlands (PRWEB) September 12, 2014 -- VideoPropulsion® (OTC:VPTV), exhibiting on stand 6.A05 at the IBC 2014 show, is thrilled to announce their high-density MPEG “Hailstorm” Transcoder product line now supports adaptive bitrate streaming outputs. This new development provides support for OTT and TV Everywhere applications for enabling mobile TV delivery.
VideoPropulsion’s versatile FG-5000 Series are multi-format video and transcoders scalable from 8 to 168 transcodes in just 3U of rack space. The FG-5000 supports transrating and transcaling of HD bitrates and resolutions to support smaller H.264 mobile formats. Full high-definition (HD) video sources from existing MPEG2 or H.264 can be transcoded into multiple H.264 sources. In addition, the FG-5000 can do the less-obvious H.264 to MPEG2 format conversion to support legacy MPEG2-only devices – thus preserving capital investment when only H.264 video sources are available.
“We’re very excited this year to announce at IBC that our FG-5000 MPEG transcoders now support industry-leading streaming appliances to enable delivery of large numbers of adaptive bitrate streams sourced from existing HD content”, said Carl Pick, Chairman and Chief Scientist at VideoPropulsion. "The FG-5000 transcoder will enable operators to launch the highest-density lowest-cost per stream mobile adaptive bitrate streams to deliver virtually any MPEG2 or H.264 HD digital TV source to handheld mobile devices using H.264”.
The company is demonstrating a cloud-based adaptive bitrate streaming application this year at IBC by coupling its FG-5000 Transcoder outputs with a Wowza™ Streaming Engine. The company also touts the ability to integrate seamlessly with other adaptive bitrate streaming appliances.
The FG-5000 Series “Hailstorm” MPEG transcoder is available directly from VideoPropulsion. Visit with VideoPropulsion at stand 6.A05 at IBC 2014 in Amsterdam, September 12-16, 2014
