ShowPDX 2014: Furniture Design Exhibit Announces Events, Location, Jury Selection and Crowd Funding Campaign
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) September 14, 2014 -- ShowPDX 2014, the tenth juried exhibition of new, local, functional and innovative furniture will kick off with an opening night on Oct 1st, 2014. On that night, ShowPDX through a collaboration with Rejuvenation, will award one exhibitor a unique opportunity to present their work to a larger audience through the Development Award. This award will guide the recipient through the process of bringing their product to market through storytelling, marketing and local manufacturing resources. In addition to the development award will be awards for “Best in show”, and 1st-5th place.
The jury consists of a diverse group of individuals hailing from the fields of architecture, art, fabrication, and design, including: John Hoke, Nike Global Creative Director and Director at Herman Miller; Ken Tomita, Principal of Grovemade; Carrie Strickland, Principal of Works Partnership Architecture, Margarette Leite, Assistant Professor of Architecture PSU; Rebecca Armstrong, Principal of North; Alex Bellos, Vice President of Rejuvenation; Jennifer Jako and Chris Bleiler, Founders of ShowPDX and fix studio.
ShowPDX is open and free to the public October 2-14th.

Show has evolved into a trusted destination for design innovation in the Pacific Northwest. Through further development grants, sponsorships, and collaborations we hope to host the show yearly, maintain and grow a permanent online archive and serve as a source for dialog and support for designers everywhere. ShowPDX motivates the community to create new work and gives them an opportunity to expose their recent work with the public and each other. There are over 70 exhibitors who range from long-established furniture makers to design students. 2014 exhibited work includes lighting, seating, tables, and storage in a variety of materials.
