Black's Tire and Auto Service 2014 Charity Golf Tournament Nets Record $85,934 for Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina
Whiteville, NC (PRWEB) September 15, 2014 -- Despite a gloomy start to the day, the 14th Annual Black's Tire & Auto Service Charity Golf Tournament raised a record $85,934 for the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina. Black’s Tire & Auto Service’s owners Ricky and Dianne Benton, along with their family, co-workers, friends and business associates worked together to make the event a huge success.
"We are proud to lend our support to the efforts of the Homes,” said Black’s Tire & Auto Service owner, Ricky Benton. “The children who receive care there have a chance to better themselves. Dianne and I wish to thank all of you for your time and resources to assist us in this venture."
The tournament was held Friday, September 5th at Long Bay Golf Club in Longs, SC with 125 participants. The golf outing was part of a weekend of celebration and charitable work, as Black’s Tire and Auto Service observed their 85th Anniversary. On Saturday, Black’s Tire hosted a Family Day with food, games, competitions, and music at the Boys and Girls Homes of NC Farm and Exhibition Center for the BTS staff and family, vendors, and customers and the children and staff of Boys and Girls Homes of NC, Inc.
Boys and Girls Homes President/CEO Gary Faircloth responded to the donation saying, "This is an unbelievable gift to our children and support of our efforts for them. The numbers of children living in poverty and suffering from the ills of abuse and neglect are astounding. It would be great for children if there was no need for our services but regrettably that is not the case. Having spent several years in the care of Boys Homes ourselves, Dr. Tom Simmons (former resident and Boys and Girls Homes Flemington Academy principal) and I know firsthand what it means for someone to reach out and say 'You are special and we are here for you.' Ricky and Dianne, their family, co-workers, friends and business associates are truly great friends of the children who come to us for care. No one knows the hours and the effort that go into putting together this great event for our children but I am truly grateful for the love and support of Ricky and Dianne and everyone associated with Black's Tire & Auto Service."
