Henderson, KY (PRWEB) September 15, 2014 -- The ninth annual Hwy 60 Yard Sale is set to take place Oct. 3-5, 2014, covering eight counties and spanning over 200 miles. The sale will include Livingston, Crittenden, Union, Henderson, Daviess, Hancock, Breckinridge, and Meade counties. Cities located along the route include Sturgis, Morganfield, Waverly, Corydon, Henderson, Owensboro, Lewisport, Hawesville, Cloverport, Hardinsburg, Irvington, Muldraugh, as well as dozens of communities in between. The participating counties are partnering together to organize and promote the event.
Hundreds of local individuals, businesses, and groups are expected to participate this year, setting up yard sales and craft booths on their properties along the highway. This unique event allows visitors from Kentucky and surrounding states to enjoy an exciting shopping experience, while taking in the distinctive flavor of the Ohio Valley’s unique restaurants, shops, and southern hospitality. The sale will also provide an excellent opportunity for local organizations and clubs to hold fund-raising events.
Property owners located along US Highway 60 may participate in the event by either holding a yard sale or offering the use of their property to yard sale participants. Property owners who offer the use of their property may decide whether to charge a fee for that use, as well as the hours and days they will participate. Any property owner wishing to rent their property for use during the sale can contact the Henderson County Tourist Commission at 270-826-3128 to be added to our property list. You do not need to register or call if you are having a sale on your own property.
Those Henderson County participants interested in selling food should contact the Environmental Health Office at the Henderson County Health Department at 270-826-3951 for preparation and serving guidelines, permits and fees.
In addition to the Hwy 60 Yard Sale, shoppers may also want to check out the 42nd Annual Green River Area Development District’s Arts & Crafts Festival, held concurrently at John James Audubon State Park in Henderson, along the western portion of the route, on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5. This annual event has been delighting visitors with artisan and craftsman booths, artist demonstrations, delicious food, and live music, set against a scenic natural backdrop.
