Kansas City entrepreneurs with Blue Chair, LLC run with opportunities that catapult them to rankings among America’s fastest-growing private companies. Inc. Magazine released its annual list of top companies across the nation based on three-year revenue growth. One common trait found among Inc.’s top entrepreneurs was their willingness to take risks.

“Entrepreneurs survive on adaptability. Sometimes you have a vision and you can see how the pieces will fall together to make either a product or service people would want, then you have to do the planning work so you can make a risk-related decisions,” said founder and CEO Greg Gragg. “To create one business is a success story, and to create five or seven is nearly impossible, but we are not afraid. We are constantly innovating.”

Empowering Small Business

In 2012 Blue Chair, LLC was developed to support three start-up companies that simultaneously emerged out of Gragg Advertising. Each entity has begun to make waves in their respective industries, which is reflected in their growth and clients’ success.

  •     IntegriShield: Compliance monitoring and brand integrity.
  •     Lever1: Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
  •     Thermo Interactive: Inquiry generation and direct mail marketing. *Merged with Target Direct Marketing

Two years later the holding company secured ranks among the nation’s Inc. 5000 honorees as it continues to support small business endeavors. The ownership group consists of managing partners CEO Greg Gragg, CIO Mike Schuler, President/COO Darryl Mattox of Gragg Advertising and President Erica Brune of Lever1. Relying on the experience of these partners and company leaders, Blue Chair has found itself in good company on the Inc. 5000 list.

“It was an honor to have Gragg Advertising recognized on [Inc. 5000] in 2013. Having our efforts acknowledged in a larger capacity now, as a holding company, is both humbling and exciting. This ranking showcases the work each company has invested and continues to accomplish,” said Darryl Mattox.
