HealthWare Systems Signs Multi-Year Agreement with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- HealthWare Systems today announced a multi-year agreement with Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, a 128-bed hospital located in Mattoon, Illinois. Sarah Bush Lincoln will use ActiveDEFENDER, HealthWare Systems’ closed-source software module for patient encounter management and registration accuracy. The solution is designed to prevent data errors from occurring at any point during the patient encounter—and in turn, to reduce third-party claims denials.
In addition, SBLwill implement ActiveCHECK, HealthWare Systems’ patient identity/insurance verification software, which is built into the registration workflow. ActiveCHECK establishes a combination of direct connections to specific payers, clearinghouses, and government agencies. The solution automatically selects the least-costly provider of information, and generates actionable results for financial clearance departments.
“We are excited to launch both ActiveDEFENDER and ActiveCHECK within the Sarah Bush Lincoln facility,” said Steve Gruner, CEO of HealthWare Systems. “ActiveDEFENDER is fundamentally changing the way health systems handle QA efforts and registration accuracy. Instead of back-end exception processing, ActiveDEFENDER delivers front-end prevention, with continuous monitoring throughout the entire patient experience.”
“In addition to eliminating unnecessary rework, ActiveDEFENDER is an essential tool for revenue cycle management,” Gruner emphasized. “As we’ve seen with other clients, we expect Sarah Bush Lincoln will now stem reimbursement delays, underpayments, and permanent denials that used to equal costly write-offs.”
“Our teams are eager to implement ActiveDEFENDER and ActiveCHECK,” echoed Craig Sheagren, Sarah Bush Lincoln Vice President, Finance. “As an award-winning, nonprofit facility, we’re committed to providing exceptional care to our community. These technology investments will help enhance our operating margins and grow our capacity to deliver acute care, preventive medicine, and community services in East Central Illinois.”
Beyond QA, ActiveDEFENDER also features accountability tools, deadline enforcements, patient status-change management, high-balance accounts management, concurrent review work queues, reconciliation routines, and comprehensive reporting. For its part, ActiveCHECK brings sophisticated data mining functionality to hospitals’ pre-arrival workflows. ActiveCHECK ensures that all patients are clinically and financially cleared before they arrive.
