Product Safety Labeling Technical Lecture to be Presented by Clarion Safety Systems' CEO at Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Event
Milford, PA (PRWEB) October 02, 2014 -- Clarion Safety Systems, a leading designer and manufacturer of safety signs and labels, announced today that its CEO Geoffrey Peckham will present a technical lecture on product safety labeling through the Long Island Chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE) Product Safety Engineering Society.
The lecture, “The New Era of Product Safety Labeling,” will be held at 6:00 p.m. on October 9, 2014 at Underwriters Laboratories in Melville, Long Island. Peckham, who serves as chair of both the ANSI Z535 Committee for Safety Signs and Colors and the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO Technical Committee 145 – Graphical Symbols, will present information on what product design engineers need to know about the latest ANSI and ISO product warning label standards.
“The legal, risk and safety ramifications of product safety labels are of paramount importance to today's forward-thinking manufacturers. People's lives, product liability lawsuits and company futures are literally on the line when it comes to the quality of the safety labels placed on your products,” says Peckham. “The choice of format, the degree of content and the durability of materials used in their construction are all key to getting this job done right.”
Topics discussed during the lecture will include:
- The ANSI Z535 Standards for Product Safety Signs and Labels
- International Standards
- U.S./International Standards Harmonization
- Durability Considerations
Peckham’s background includes more than two decades of experience in actively advancing safety communications. He has led and continues to lead both the U.S. and international efforts to harmonize standards in the area of safety signs, labels and markings; this includes contributing to the leadership and direction of ANSI, ISO, OSHA and NFPA safety codes.
Additional information on the lecture, including registration information, can be found on the IEEE website.
