Dr. Laurence Belkoff, Urologic Surgeon, receives highest award bestowed by American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS).

Laurence H. Belkoff, DO, FACOS, Urologic Surgeon, receives the highest award bestowed by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS). The Orel F. Martin Medal is given to recognize outstanding service in the areas of surgery, education, leadership and research. Dr. Belkoff is affiliated with with Hahnemann University Hospital, The Albert Einstein Medical Center, and the Mercy Health System. He is a senior partner with Urologic Consultants of Southeastern Pennsylvania, with multiple offices in Philadelphia and Montgomery County.

“I am extremely honored to receive this award,” Belkoff says. “Throughout my career I have sought to blend education, research and clinical practice in ways that ultimately provide patients with the best possible outcomes and quality of life.”

The Orel F. Martin Medal is being awarded to Belkoff “as a symbol of an outstanding career dedicated to excellence in surgical care,” says current ACOS president, Dr. Richard Kimmel. “Belkoff lead ACOS projects that will benefit osteopathic medicine physicians and organizations well into the future.”

The award will be presented at the 2014 Annual Clinical Assembly of Osteopathic Surgeons on September 19, 2014.

Belkoff has served the ACOS as President and member of the Board of Governors.

Belkoff currently serves as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Specialty Surgeries and the Division of Urology at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and is an Assistant Professor at Drexel University College of Medicine. He is the Site Director for the urologic surgery residency program at Hahnemann University Hospital. He also is the Medical Director of Urologic Services for the Mercy Health System.

Belkoff is passionate about clinical research. He has been the Principal Investigator for more than 150 phase 2 to 4 clinical trials and has been published in many peer–reviewed articles and abstracts. He has lectured widely nationally and internationally.
