Over 730 Patients Received Treatment Resulting in Approximately $296,000 in Free Dentistry During Annual Labor of Love Event

Risas Dental and Braces (Risas) held its 3rd Annual Labor of Love event on Monday, September 1 at all eight Risas locations throughout the Phoenix and Denver area. This community event is held each year as a way to thank the community for their support throughout the year. This annual event gives attendees the opportunity to choose from one of four treatments including teeth cleaning, cavity filling, tooth extraction or a complete exam with X-rays. Since Risas’ first event in 2011, each office has treated anywhere from 75 to 200 patients and donated more than $1 million in dental care by the all-volunteer staff.

The Labor of Love event was well organized with all doctors and teammates at each Risas location volunteering their holiday to perform pro bono work on adults and children that were in line starting at 8:00 am. Over 730 patients received treatment resulting in approximately $296,000 in free dentistry. At Risas newest location at 7440 W Thomas Rd in Phoenix, 127 patients received approximately $38,100 in free dental care.

“This is the one day of the year that I really look forward to. It is a day of giving back to the community as well as an opportunity for all the teammates at Risas to come together and feel good about donating their day off to a good cause,” said Dr. Nicolas Porter, founder and CEO of Risas Dental and Braces.

Founded in 2011 in Glendale, Ariz., Risas Dental and Braces embraces the lifelong mission of its founder, Dr. Nicolas Porter who is determined to change the way dentistry is delivered in the United States by making it affordable for all. By offering flexible, affordable, convenient and bilingual dental care, Risas embodies Dr. Nicolas Porter’s belief that proper oral health and treatment is critical to the overall health of all individuals, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. In an effort to serve each community in which it operates, Risas has provided nearly $1 million in free dental care to date at each of its grand opening and annual Labor of Love community outreach events held each Labor Day. Dr. Porter is also the host of The Dr. Nicolas Show, on 1190 AM, a syndicated, Spanish-language talk radio show devoted to all aspects of oral health.
