KegWorks Adds DIY Hard Cider Kits Just in Time for Fall
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) September 19, 2014 -- With Autumn fast approaching, KegWorks has added a line of Do-it-Yourself Hard Cider Ingredient Packs to their expansive Homebrew offering. “With the changing of the seasons comes a change in tastes as well,” says Trisha Charles, KegWorks VP of Product. “We try to cater to all kinds of drinkers, and hard cider is a tipple quickly on the rise.”
The KegWorks cider offering is comprised of four ingredient packs from Mangrove Jack. The kits contain all the high-quality ingredients you need to create a Traditional Hard Apple Cider, Pear Cider, Mixed Berry Cider, or Strawberry & Pear Cider. Each flavor brings the sweetness you’d expect from a hard cider, but it’s not as sugary as many of the pre-bottled versions available at your local beer store.
“A 5-gallon batch of cider requires about 3½ bushels of apples and a fruit press to extract the liquid from the apples,” says Justin Frost, KegWorks’ Brewing Instructor. “These kits remove some of the more difficult and expensive components of cider making, so anyone can get started with the hobby.”
Consumers still need some additional equipment to get going on their own homemade cider. An 8-gallon fermenter, airlock, hydrometer, thermometer, Dextrose, and a Brewer’s Spoon are all necessary components. And then something to hold and serve the cider - whether it’s bottles, barrels, or growlers. All of the additional equipment can be found in the KegWorks online Homebrew Shop or at their retail store in Kenmore, NY.
In addition to the new ingredient packs, KegWorks has also added a 6-piece Assorted Cider Glass Set from Libbey, which includes the following glasses: Belgian, Teardrop, Footed Cooler, Sangria Style, and two different Pub Styles.
“Much like beer and wine, the kind of glass you need is determined by the kind of cider you drink,” says Frost. “Skeptics don’t believe it until they try it. I’ve watched minds change as quick as small sips.”
