Historic Chambersburg Photo Walk & Franklin County Photo Contest
Chambersburg, PA (PRWEB) September 17, 2014 -- The Franklin County Visitors Bureau and LA cameras are mixing history and photography on a photo walk October 4 in downtown Chambersburg, 9:30 AM – 2 PM. Experience the historic sites in and around Memorial Square and the Founding Family Park. Some of the sites included in the Historic Chambersburg Photo Walk are Memorial Fountain, Franklin County Courthouse, Chambersburg Heritage Center, John Brown House, Franklin County Old Jail, and Falling Spring Church & Graveyard. The Franklin County Visitors Bureau will give participants an overview of the historic sites at each stop and have access to LA Camera’s photographic expertise to help all levels of photographers sharpen their photography skills, and then be given time to capture the sites through the lens of their cameras.
The photo walk is an excellent way to understand the chapters of American history, which played out across Franklin County PA over the past 250 years. In addition to the history, the architecture of downtown Chambersburg offers photographers another element to capture. Framing the architecture and the historic sites along with the beauty of the community, the photo walk guarantees a plentiful variety of subjects.
The cost of the Historic Chambersburg Photo Walk is $25 and includes lunch at Main Street Deli plus a print voucher from LA Cameras. Participants will need a camera and will need to be able to engage in light to moderate walking. In all, the walk will encompass approximately 5-6 blocks. A tripod or monopod will be helpful but is not required. Register online at http://conta.cc/1olKNC3. The day of the walk, participants will meet in front of the Chambersburg Heritage Center parking lot at 9:30 AM. The walk will not take place if it is raining. October 11 is the rain date.
Participants are encouraged to enter their favorite photos in the final Franklin County Visitors Bureau & LA Cameras photo contest of 2014. The theme is history. In addition to photos taken on the Chambersburg Historic Photo Walk, photographers are invited to enter their favorite depictions of Franklin County history.
