"A Chance Encounter" takes place during a time of momentous social and political change in Germany, when those who dare to speak out run the risk of imprisonment or worse.

Near the end of World War I, 19-year-old Roland Massey is conscripted into the British Army and sent to the Western Front. His aim is to return home unscathed to Cheshire. Following a battle near Rheims, he is given temporary custody of Paul Sondheim, a captured German soldier.

Their meeting results in a reunion after the war, and Roland’s introduction to Paul’s beautiful sister, Stefanie. But brother and sister are flirting with danger as political extremism takes hold in inter-war Germany. Can Roland save them both from disaster?
