NASA’s MESSENGER aircraft has just celebrated its 10-year anniversary in space. Valcor Engineering manufactures a specific latch valve, the V27200-818, which operates on the MESSENGER.

NASA’s MESSENGER has just celebrated its 10-year anniversary in space. Valcor Engineering Corporation is proud to have one of its latch valves, V27200-818, operating onboard this spacecraft.

The MESSENGER mission is a scientific investigation of the planet Mercury. It is only the second spacecraft ever to be sent there, and has provided a vast amount of information and images of the planet.

Valcor’s V27200 family of latch valves utilize solenoids that also include permanent magnets to maintain the valve in both the open and closed position. This provides secure valve open/close operation with only a short pulse of electrical power.
