Where the Winds Blow Announce New, Custom Mah Jongg Tile Sets
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) September 18, 2014 -- Where the Winds Blow, the premier tabletop game retailer in the Houston metropolitan area, recently announced the arrival of new custom tile sets for the board game. Customers already have a dizzying array of tile sets to choose from, and this latest announcement only signifies that the Katy-based company has beefed up its inventory.
Mah Jongg has been played in its country of origin, China, since around about 500 BC. The Western world gained knowledge of its existence in the early 17th century, with the game finally reaching U.S. shores in the early 20th century. But it was not until a civil engineer, Joseph Park Babcock, wrote an instructional guide named Rules of Mah-Jongg that the game attained a certain level of popularity.
Modern-day Mah Jongg usually involves four players, each of who get 13 tiles. These tiles are drawn and discarded until the players use the 14th drawn tile to complete a legal hand. This is accomplished by forming four groups (melds) and a pair (head).
The new tile sets add to the diverse finishing and design options available at Where the Winds Blow. The Gold Glitter Set, which retails for $90, consists of 166 gold glitter tiles. It includes 2014 Year of the Horse jokers, four purple combo racks, two velvet trays, matching purple dice, and a black wheel-baring aluminum case. Also for $90 is the Burgundy Set, which also comes two velvet trays. Included in this package are ruby red racks with matching pushers, red dice, and black aluminum case on wheels. Also part of the new arrivals are the aptly named Blue Denim and Red Checkered sets, which have the same price as the Gold Glitter and Burgundy sets.
