In response to the seemingly constant stream of security threats, the expanding use of remote access applications, and the increasing client demand for access to pertinent information, WMSI has appointed Doug Perkins as its Information Security Officer to oversee the management of all existing security policies and procedures and the ongoing development of the firm’s risk management strategy. This role centralizes all resources and functions responsible for identifying and managing information security across WMSI’s entire book of business to proactively safeguard client interests.

Wealth Management Systems Inc. (WMSI) announced today that Doug Perkins has joined the firm as Information Security Officer. An industry veteran with extensive experience in software development, project management, quality assurance, and operations and information security, Mr. Perkins is assuming responsibility for the design and future development of WMSI’s enterprise-wide information security strategies and policies. Mr. Perkins reports to BJ Ralston, WMSI’s Chief Compliance Officer, and is based in WMSI’s Boston Office.

WMSI has grown significantly following the purchase of the S&P Capital IQ Financial Communications Division in October of 2013. Combining the firm’s data aggregation and financial planning expertise has fueled the development of new applications such as WMSI’s Advisor Workstation. The Workstation integrates plan, trustee, advisor and participant data from various sources and seamlessly ports data into various plan benchmarking and financial planning tools to drive all aspects of plan management in support of BDs, Retirement Plan Advisors, and Distribution Partners.

“WMSI is a highly entrepreneurial company and we strive to deliver the latest in content management and optimization technologies to help our clients personalize service delivery for all end-users. Operating in this environment, we recognize that WMSI and our clients are facing a more complex set of risk and information security challenges than ever before,” said John Geli, WMSI's CEO. “The appointment of a dedicated information security officer is an integral part of our vision to proactively monitor company-specific practices to support the governance of all information and related technologies.”

Mr. Perkins has extensive experience in information technology disciplines having held leadership positions with companies such as Fiserv, Allstate, and Thomson Reuters. He holds several industry certifications, most notably, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Project Management Professional (PMI PMP).

“WMSI is a very progressive company with outstanding products and a top notch team,” added Doug Perkins. “I am very excited about the opportunity to oversee this vital part of the business and to manage the ongoing development of new procedures to effectively monitor and mitigate evolving risks.”
