Last week the Montash team volunteered rejuvenating a community garden for the local community, in support of Groundwork London's regeneration programme.
London (PRWEB UK) 20 September 2014 -- The Montash team spent a day rejuvenating Mabley Green for the use of the local community. Montash is a committed supporter of Groundwork London’s initiatives.
Groundwork London is working in collaboration with Mabley Green Community Garden. The Montash team volunteered to spend a day working on the Mabley Green project, which is managed by Damian Rafferty – Chairman of the Mabley Green Users Group. The community garden regeneration project is based in the London Borough of Hackney. The Montash volunteers prepared the community garden for school children to plant and sow herbs and flowers, and also designed and built bird boxes for the children to hang in the trees.
Andy Larholt – CEO of Montash commented “Groundwork London makes a huge difference in the local community. Their dedication, drive, compassion and sheer hard work in organizing volunteers and encouraging community participation for the common benefit of all, combines to form an ethos that we at Montash share and admire. Therefore it is with great pleasure that we will continue with our ongoing support of Groundwork London by working with them on future initiatives and projects. Last year, we worked on a Play, Sow Grow initiative with Groundwork London and really enjoyed working on the project. This year we were commissioned to rejuvenate a community garden-turned-dump-site back into a usable community garden for the local school children. We will continue to support Groundwork London in 2015 and hope to work on more local projects.”
Mabley Green is located in the east of Hackney. The park is bounded by the busy A12 to the south and Homerton Road to the north.
Damian Rafferty – Chairman of the Mabley Green Users Group commented “Last Christmas when fly-tippers trashed the meadow, we were heartbroken. Kids had planted fruit bushes and herbs there and all of that was destroyed. This year though we have got the meadow back and the folks from Montash have been a huge help, spending a whole back-breaking day clearing weeds, chopping wood, making bird boxes and planting bulbs. In a few weeks’ time, the kids will be back planting more fruit trees and Montash have done so much to make that possible. What a great bunch. We would love to have them back!”
Montash is a continued supporter of Groundwork London and has worked on a number of projects including Play, Sow Grow and East Enterprising. Montash also donates all funds raised from ticket sales for their recent events to Women in Technology 2013 and Cyber Security Breakfast Briefing 2014.
Katie Fowler - Fundraising Officer, Groundwork London said "Groundwork London are really grateful for Montash's ongoing corporate support of our community projects in East London. Through their hard work at a recent volunteering day at Mabley Green, they have helped to rejuvenate the area so that the whole community can enjoy the space in the future. Mabley Green forms part of our new Growing Links programme that we are delivering in collaboration with the London Legacy Development Corporation. This initiative will create a network of growers in and around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park culminating in a 'Make, Grow, Do' Harvest Festival in Autumn 2016."
