Countable, the political app responsible for flooding Capitol Hill with over 300,000 emails on over 10,000 pieces of legislation, is today rolling out new functionality that allows constituents to “high five” or “boo” their Representatives and Senators, after every vote they cast.

Countable crunches legislation down to easy-to-understand descriptions, and then allows users to message their Representatives and Senators to support or oppose any piece of legislation, with one simple click.

With the new functionality, after a vote has been cast, Countable will alert users to how their elected official voted. From there, Countable gives users a chance to “boo” or “high five” the elected official, by publicly cheering or jeering them on Facebook and Twitter, as well as allowing them to send a direct message of support or disappointment to the elected member, for their vote, all with just a one click.

“We’re taking accountability for politicians to a whole new level,” said Bart Myers, CEO of Countable. “Busy Americans don’t have time to follow all the votes in Congress, let alone try to find the roll call, to see how their elected official voted, even on the bills they care about the most. Politicians know that, and therefore presume that a lot of their votes will go undiscovered and unnoticed.”

“Now, they can’t forget it. Not only will they know that their constituents have been made aware of their vote, as soon as it happens, but they’ll face increased reaction on social media, and in their own email inboxes. In this way, Countable will change the equation, for the better, when it comes to casting votes in Congress,” Myers added. “We are continuing to put Congress in the palm of your hand.”

The newest version of Countable can be downloaded at the iTunes store, where it is a top political and news app. Screenshots of the new functionality, for reference, are below.

Countable (http://www.countable.us) was launched in May 2014, to give constituents an easy and straightforward way to understand proposed laws, and keep track of, and directly influence, their lawmakers. The company is founded, led and advised by a team with notable achievements in technology, start-ups, and politics such as SideReel.com, the Bay Partners venture capital firm, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s campaign, and the Howard Dean presidential campaign, which is often credited for revolutionizing the use of technology in politics.
