The idea behind Fever Smart was the result of Hill’s own personal health problem in 2012. Hill was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a blood cancer, at the age of nineteen. He began to think about a solution to traditional temperature monitoring when he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment to combat his cancer. “There was no way for me to continuously track my temperature for signs of fever, which meant that it was difficult to detect whether I might be getting an infection.” Other members of the Fever Smart team noticed a similar challenge. Explains Aaron Goldstein, co-founder and CEO of Fever Smart, “I saw that family and friends who had small children had trouble keeping track of their kids’ temperature when they thought they might be getting sick. They told me that conventional thermometers were difficult to use, uncomfortable for children, and, most concerning, they only provided a one-time temperature reading.
