Greenberg Traurig’s Hilarie Bass to be Honored for Pro Bono Work
MIAMI (PRWEB) September 18, 2014 -- Hilarie Bass, Co-President of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, will be honored Sept. 18 by the Dade County Bar Association and Dade Legal Aid at “Over the Rainbow,” an awards reception and celebration. The event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at The Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables.
Bass will be presented with the Justice Joseph Story Award in recognition for her pro bono work on behalf of Frank Martin Gill's two foster children. Bass lead the team that successfully challenged the Florida law prohibiting gay adoption, at the time the only one of its kind in the U.S.
“There is no greater pleasure than knowing you have changed the course of so many lives and eliminated a grave injustice in society,” Bass said. “Even today, complete strangers thank me for making it possible for them to adopt. The importance of giving back to the community remains a strong personal commitment for me and an indelible part of the culture at Greenberg Traurig.”
Over the Rainbow aims to recognize members of the judiciary and bar who have gone “Over the Rainbow” in their commitment to both the Miami-Dade legal community and the broader community. The event will feature a cocktail reception for up to 1,000 in-house counsel, judges, attorneys, political leaders and business executives. Attendees will be treated to Broadway-style entertainment.
Bass is one of eight honorees to be recognized at the event.
