Century Old Area Business Moves to New Home in Kansas City’s Crossroads District
KANSAS CITY, MO (PRWEB) September 22, 2014 -- Griner and Schmitz Incorporated announces its relocation to 1700 Cherry Street effective September 29, 2014. The longstanding Kansas City-based surveying equipment and service company is moving from its old location on Broadway to a larger building a few blocks away in order to better accommodate its customers’ growing and evolving needs.
The move comes after spending 64 years on Broadway in the heart of the Crossroads District. “We’re excited about relocating from a 3,000 square foot building to one with 13,000 square feet. Our current building, though built specifically for us in 1952, became too small for our growing business. We needed a bigger warehouse, a larger training center and more customer parking with easier access than our Broadway location could offer,” explains Jim Martin, General Manager.
Griner and Schmitz has been a part of the downtown Kansas City landscape since 1910, and the company has supplied tools and equipment for two World Wars, the Korean Conflict and the Kansas Turnpike construction. Its new location ensures the company remains within the heart of the Crossroads District, but allows customers to more easily access the building and parking. Also, the additional square footage means more room for stocking surveying and equipment, which is far more convenient for staff and customers.
Anonymous donors purchased Griner and Schmitz’s Broadway building on behalf of the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance. “Our former building will be a great fit for them in the heart of the Crossroads Art District. Our moving makes way for the Conservatory, which is good for them, good for us and good for our local arts community,” says Martin.
Griner and Schmitz will be holding an open house on October 24, 2014, immediately following the joint annual meeting of the Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors (MSPS) and Kansas Society of Professional Surveyors (KSPS).
