What do legal text coding, nanotechnology drug delivery and the simplification of in-vitro diagnostics have in common? All are being researched and developed by the newest residents of the Science Center’s Port business incubator. CETICS Healthcare Technologies and Legal Science Partners have taken office space while HaRo Pharmaceutical and Hyalo Technologies have each established laboratory operations at the Port’s facilities at 37th and Market Streets.
With its analysis technology and digitalization of sample profiles, CETICS Healthcare Technologies drastically simplifies how in-vitro diagnostics are used, opening new application areas in quality control, chemical stability testing, toxicology, and process optimization and control. With its home office in the Esslingen Life Science Center in Germany, CETICS has established its U.S. headquarters at the Science Center as part of the Global Soft Landing program.
HaRo Pharmaceutical, Inc. is developing innovative and proprietary small hybrid therapeutics for the treatment of orphan and neglected pediatric pathologies. Licensed from a major North American academic institution, HaRo’s molecules engage two interrelated, but independent, pathways that control key cellular proliferation, differentiation and survival mechanisms.
Hyalo Technologies is a biotech and pharmaceutical company establishing the next generation of drug delivery, with the goal of developing products to help clinicians address the limited drug delivery options that are available on the market today. Through its innovative nanotechnology drug delivery system, Hyalo Technologies will be able to drastically reduce systemic side effects and increase patient compliance. Applications for this innovative drug delivery system include, but are not limited to: cancer, pain management, wound healing, and dermatology.
Legal Science Partners (LSP) was spun out of the Temple University’s Beasley School of Law in 2013, and has developed a revolutionary knowledge management platform (The Monocle) that allows easy, low-cost access to legal information across jurisdictions and topics. LSP uses embedded tools (LawAtlas and the Workbench) to convert unstructured legal text to powerful, structured question and answer formats. Additionally, Monocle provides the ability to publish and display the data to a portal or mobile app for easy, repeatable access, distribution, and collaboration. LSP recently received SBIR Phase I grant funding to create a prototype Prescription Drug Abuse Policy System for the National Institute for Drug Abuse.
The Science Center’s Port business incubator helps emerging life sciences, physical sciences, and digital technology companies operate and grow through a suite of related programs and facilities. The program provides participants with co‐working spaces, cubicles, fully furnished offices, and/or wet and dry labs directly in the heart of the Science Center’s vibrant urban campus. Beyond the physical infrastructure, Port residents are immediately plugged in to a rich network of resources where they can access the programs, the people and the support that can help grow their businesses. Port resident companies have raised more than $116 million in private capital since 2006.
