KSCI-TV LA18 Launches DIYA TV on Digital Channel 18.12 – Diya TV, America's First South Asian Broadcast Television Network, Now Available Over-The-Air in Los Angeles
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2014 -- KSCI-TV LA18 (LA18), Los Angeles’ #1 Asian TV station, adds the excellent South Asian programming of Diya TV to its digital channel line-up. Diya TV will be available free over-the-air to Los Angeles residents on digital channel 18.12 and 20.3, featuring local news, talk, public affairs, live sports, Bollywood films and more.
Founded in 2009, Diya TV is America’s first 24/7 free digital over-the-air South Asian television network. Diya TV is breaking new ground in South Asian programming, rooted in news and investigative journalism, featuring programming in Hindi, English, Punjabi and Urdu. Diya TV is also available in San Francisco, Dallas and Chicago. Their aim is to partner with community leaders and content providers to finally showcase the underserved South Asian community.
Los Angeles is home to over 212,000 South Asians, the fastest growing ethnic group in the Los Angeles DMA. Asian Indians in particular are 70% foreign born; a young and affluent demographic with 78% speaking their native language at home.
