United Benefit Advisors (UBA), the nation’s leading independent employee benefits organization, wrapped-up its annual Fall Meeting & Expo at the Loews (formerly InterContinental) Chicago O'Hare Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois. With a fantastic attendance of more than 400 employee benefit and financial advisors, UBA's new CEO, Les McPhearson, led these thought leaders to discuss the rapidly changing benefits industry and what is required of successful advisor firms looking to stay ahead of emerging trends.
During his kick-off, Les McPhearson talked about the health care era being in a transitional period where companies will be defined or left behind based on their ability to see the challenges ahead and react quickly to the opportunities. “We can all remember brands that, while relevant and in the spotlight 12 years ago,” said Les, “have faded from public view or have become non-existent today. At the UBA Fall Meeting & Expo there was a plethora of networking opportunities, focused breakout sessions exploring how attendees can improve their sales techniques to better serve their clients, and more than 25 exhibitors displaying their latest products and services. Highlights included an insider's view of politics inside the Washington, D.C. Beltway, possible changes due to the mid-term elections, and what Congress is looking at in terms of modifications to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the chances of those changes becoming reality. In addition, speakers covered best HR practices, trends toward employers including more voluntary benefits in their planning strategy, and HIPAA compliance. Furthermore, Partners shared their success stories of how UBA’s private exchange solutions are thriving and being quickly adopted by employers throughout the country. These presentations, along with industry-leading insurance carriers and innovative product solutions, are keeping UBA ahead of the pack.
