Community invited to learn more about this devastating condition in Alpharetta.

This presentation, and the screening, will help individuals identify and combat Alzheimer’s in their own families and loved ones.

The Institute for Advanced Medical research (formerly known as the Atlanta Institute of Medicine and Research) will provide a session on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 7:00-8:00 p.m. that covers the full spectrum of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Participants will learn the difference between normal forgetfulness and dementia, how to minimize their risk, the current treatment options that are available to those diagnosed, and the state of medical research today in the United States. In addition the staff will provide memory screenings to all interested participants to see if they are at risk; participants can then take the results to their primary care provider and discuss further investigation.

While there is no cost to attend, those interested should call 770-817-9200 to register.

The Institute is located at 5895 Windward Parkway, Alpharetta 30005, just east of 400.

“As part of our commitment to community outreach, we are providing this educational seminar to bring about both awareness and understanding. As the fifth leading cause of death in America today, the number of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s is growing at an alarming rate,” said Angelo Sambunaris, M.D., Founder and Chief Medical Officer. “This presentation, and the screening, will help individuals identify and combat Alzheimer’s in their own families and loved ones.”
