It has been an exciting week for American Sleep & Breathing Academy Dental Division. We are proud to announce that Dr. Robert L. Talley, DDS has become the new President of the American Sleep & Breathing Academy Dental Division (ASBADD) and Associate Professor and Dr. Peter Chase, DDS will be serving as the new Vice President of the ASBADD. Dr. Talley will be replacing Dr. Steve Carstensen, DDS and Dr. Chase will be replacing Dr. Richard Drake, DDS. Both Dr. Carstensen and Dr. Drake have served their respective two year terms. “The contributions made by both Dr. Carstensen and Dr. Drake over the past two years are greatly appreciated, both were instrumental in helping this Academy become one of the nation’s leading authorities in dental sleep medicine. The growth we have attained under their leadership is far beyond what I originally expected,” says David Gergen, Executive Director of the ASBADD.
Dr. Robert L. Talley, DDS founded Craniofacial Pain, TMJ and Sleep in Norman, Oklahoma in 1971. For over 40 years, Dr. Talley has focused specifically on craniofacial pain, TMJ disorders and sleep disorders. He became the first dentist in Oklahoma to become board certified in dental sleep medicine by becoming a Diplomate in the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). Dr. Talley's practice received facility accreditation from the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), joining a small, elite group of centers around the nation recognized for proficiency, professionalism and procedural excellence regarding the treatment of patients with sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing. In addition to ongoing research, he has completed numerous fellowships and Board certifications including, but not limited to, the ABDSM and AADSM.
Dr. Peter F. Chase, DDS has focused on the profession of Dentistry since he began high school and earned his DDS degree from Creighton Dental University. While practicing dentistry, Dr. Chase became frustrated in his inability to conduct research, resulting in his affiliation as an Associate Professor at the University of Pacific Dental School. He is considered an expert on medical/legal issues involving the teeth, jaws and related structures and has functioned as a private Dental Consultant to legal entities, insurance companies and state licensing agencies. Dr. Chase maintains a private practice in Walnut Creek, California limited to the diagnosis and treatment of Temporomandibular disorders and Obstructive sleep disorders . In addition to his new role as Vice President of the ASBADD, Dr. Chase is an active member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, California Dental Society, the American Academy of Pain Management, American Pain Society and the Institute of Health and Healing (California Pacific Medical Center). He is also on the active staff of the California Pacific Medical Center and the Sleep Disorder Dental Society.
