Food lovers in North Devon will be rubbing their hands in glee with the news that Michael Caines is coming to The Kentisbury Grange near Barnstaple.

I am particularly excited about helping to take the cuisine and restaurant service to a higher level, adding a touch of Michael Caines magic.

Michael and his team are set to oversee the operations of this beautiful Grade II listed Victorian Manor House which has 16 bedrooms and stands in its own landscaped grounds on the edge of the Exmoor National Park.

The hand’s-on partnership agreement will see Michael Caines and his team providing full operational support and advice on all aspects of hotel and restaurant operations, including close contact with the kitchen team to create Michael Caines menus which utilise North Devon’s finest produce and ingredients; advice on kitchen design and layout as well as hospitality training and the appointment of key staff.

Michael’s close involvement at The Kentisbury Grange is marked by the naming of the restaurant as The Coach House by Michael Caines. Said Michael: “I’m hugely excited about this new partnership. The Kentisbury Grange already offers a wonderful hospitality experience with its stunning location in such a beautiful part of Devon and by building on the solid foundation already established, our involvement can help in all aspects of the hotel operations. I am particularly excited about helping to take the cuisine and restaurant service to a higher level, adding a touch of Michael Caines magic. Under our guidance, I am certain that The Coach House will soon be among Devon’s finest dining experiences”.

Kentisbury’s General Manager, Peter Farquhar, adds: “Michael’s involvement is very exciting as it will enable us to move to a whole new level in all aspects of our hospitality offering. We encourage everybody — our regular visitors as well as those who have not yet discovered us — to come and join us for the journey”.

To mark the beginning of this exciting agreement, Michael will team up with the hotel’s Head Chef Jean-Marc Zanetti - himself a Michael Caines protégé - to host “An Evening with Michael Caines MBE” on the 19th of October 2014. The evening will feature a six course tasting menu with both chefs creating three dishes each. This will be a wonderful evening for all food lovers as well as for fans of Devon’s most popular chef. Michael will introduce each course himself and mingle with the diners throughout the evening to give the benefit of his twenty years experience at the very top of British cuisine.
