Retired US Diplomat Shares Lessons from Life as a Rolling Stone
Melbourne, FL (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- As a man who has truly seen it all, recently retired United States Diplomat Don Feeney is no stranger to adventure: he has lived on five continents and visited more than 50 countries around the world, moved 24 times in the last 35 years, beat colon cancer, and been married four times.
From his beginnings as an inner city kid with limited options, to overcoming the challenges of a life in motion, Feeney recalls his vast life experiences in his cathartic memoir, “Gathering No Moss: Memoir of a Reluctant World Traveler.”
“The life of travel is exciting, but lonely,” said Feeney. “I have lived the life of a rolling stone, and have used this book to search for meaning, closure, simplicity and spirituality through it all.”
Feeney has held many jobs and achieved many career accomplishments, while continuing to search for the true meaning of his experiences. He has been an Air Force Officer and Commander, a US Diplomat, a college professor, an administrator, a trainer, a manager, and a consular officer- each position lending itself to a new life lesson and adventure.
As a self-proclaimed “reluctant rolling stone,” Feeney has lived to tell his story of decades on the road. Feeney’s nomadic tale features a wide variety of vignettes that cover every conceivable human emotion.
“I believe the human mind will never let you understand the human mind,” said Feeney. “That said, I tried my best to engage the reader with humor, curiosity and knowledge gained from my travels. This is the reason I wrote the book in the first place.”
