Inmar’s Health Happens HereSM Wellness Program Wins 2014 Cigna Well-Being Award
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) September 22, 2014 -- Inmar today announced that it has received the 2014 Cigna Well-Being Award for demonstrating a strong commitment to improving the health and well-being of its associates through a workplace wellness program.
Inmar’s Health Happens HereSM program, introduced in 2010, helps to meet the diverse goals and needs of the company’s associates through activities such as fitness challenges for all levels, on-site health improvement and fitness classes, wellness coaching and an annual 5K walk/run. Associates also can earn health plan premium incentives for making healthy lifestyle choices.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. employers lose more than $225 billion each year in productivity due to employee health problems. Cigna created the Well-Being Award to recognize employer clients that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of their workforce.
Applicants for the award are evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including the goals, implementation, incentives, leadership engagement and employee participation.
“I am very pleased to accept this award on behalf of Inmar associates, who have embraced efforts to improve their wellness, for themselves and their families,” says Inmar Chairman and CEO David Mounts. “In 2013, nearly 200 associates took action that moved them to a lower risk category, and as a team they lost nearly 2,000 pounds during a weight loss competition.” He adds that, “They are a competitive, goal-oriented group and are taking control of their health.”
“Cigna has always been a leader in driving health improvement in the workplace and we are committed to recognizing companies like Inmar who are passionate about investing in a culture of health,” said Charles Pitts, president and general manager for Cigna in North Carolina. “Workplace wellness is becoming an industry-wide priority and many employers have experienced a reduction in health care costs as a result of health and wellness initiatives.”
