USDA APHIS to Occupy 104,184 SF Spec Facility at CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Kansas City
Oak Brook, IL (PRWEB) September 22, 2014 -- CenterPoint Properties announces the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will occupy 104,184 SF in a speculative, Class-A specialized facility proximate to the NNSA campus. Mark Long, SIOR, CCIM and Tracey Mann, CCIM of Newmark Grubb Zimmer represented CenterPoint in the transaction. Leigh Anna Sotdorus of CBRE, Inc represented the General Services Administration (GSA) in the transaction.
The building, located within the CenterPoint Intermodal Center – Kansas City, is adjacent to Botts Road and U.S. Highway 150 in south Kansas City. USDA APHIS will occupy 35 percent of the 300,000 SF facility – with 190,000 SF available for lease - which has an expected completion of fall 2014 and marks the first structure in the intermodal park. The site is fully improved with completed infrastructure and features a 60,000 SF wareyard, 60’ speed bays, 32’ clear, 37-door single loaded with 4 drive-in doors and parking for 234 cars.
“We are honored to continue our relationship with the GSA , after having been selected through a competitive process, to provide a modern space to improve operating efficiency while reducing operating costs for USDA APHIS,” said CenterPoint vice president of development, Melissa Roman. “By locating the facility within CIC-KC, adjacent to the NNSA campus and major interstate thoroughfares, the USDA APHIS is enabled to carry out their mission protecting the health and welfare of our nation’s animals.
The property is positioned adjacent to the Kansas City Southern Intermodal facility, with immediate access to Missouri Hwy 150 and Interstate-49, and beside the NNSA National Security Campus. The National Nuclear Security Administration completed its move to the new facility in early 2014 from the Bannister complex. The new campus was developed by a partnership involving CenterPoint and Newmark Grubb Zimmer directly north of the CIC- KC.
