SoCal Burn Ride is this Sunday to Raise Funds for Burn Survivors and Their Families
CALABASAS, CA (PRWEB) September 24, 2014 -- On Sunday September 28, 2014, hundreds of Southern California motorcycle enthusiasts will participate in the “SoCal Burn Ride 2014” to benefit burn survivors and their families. The approximately 81 mile tour will cover stops in Calabasas, Malibu, and Ventura, with proceeds going to fund programs at the Grossman Burn Foundation and Firefighters Quest For Burn Survivors.
Christine Hines, Executive Director of the Grossman Burn Foundation commented, “The SoCal Burn Ride is more than simply a fundraiser—it is an enormous display of support for burn survivors. This event promises to raise awareness not only of the physical and emotional toll that life-altering burn injuries have on survivors and their families, but also of the unique challenges and needs that confront them.”
At each of the five stops along the tour, each rider will receive a standard playing card. At the conclusion of the ride, bikers will “play their hands” in a massive game of five card stud poker, with prizes being awarded for the wining hands.
The ride begins at 8:00 AM with breakfast and a group photo at Sagebrush Cantina (23527 Calabasas Rd, Calabasas, CA 91302). It will then go through 4 stops between Malibu and Ventura, ending back at Sagebrush at 2pm with a raffle and appearances by Dr. Peter Grossman, founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, Thom Propst, Glendale Fire Battalion Chief and Executive Director of Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors and Trevor Holtan, burn survivor and one of the main inspirations for the ride.
Christine Hines stated, “I am grateful for the support and enthusiastic participation of everyone who made this special event happen: the bikers from across Southern California, the businesses hosting the tour stops: Sagebrush Cantina, The Rock Store, Vintage Grocers, Firestation 33, Thousand Oaks Power Sports, the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and all of our individual and corporate sponsors. A special thank you to David Kuntz, Captain with the USMCR, and Trevor Holtan for providing the inspiration for this ride. The funds we raise will enable the Grossman Burn Foundation and Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors to continue to aid burn survivors with housing and basic support services, and to engage the community at large through burn prevention and public education programs.”
Tickets for the ride are $30 per rider/ $15 per passenger, and corporate sponsorship opportunities are available. Please visit http://www.socalburnride.com to purchase tickets, or for more information.
