Grinnell Mutual seeks submissions from the public for innovative community improvement projects in the Midwest. Working Together Making It Better will provide grants totaling $3,500 to three non-profit organizations with projects positively impacting their communities.

“So many people living in our rural marketplace make their communities a better places,” said Grinnell Mutual Director of Advertising and Community Relations Barb Baker. “Their leadership—as coaches, as volunteers, as mentors—help to make their communities better places to live, work, and play. Working Together Making It Better is Grinnell Mutual’s way of recognizing the work they do.”

Second, beginning November 11, they can vote on Grinnell Mutual’s Facebook page for the project they believe is the best project for Working Together Making It Better.

Grinnell Mutual will accept submissions on its Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/myGrinnellMutual, through October 31. Projects must have (or affiliate with) a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. They also need to be located in one of 12 states in which Grinnell Mutual does business: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

“Last year the Working Together Making It Better finalists received over 2,500 votes,” said Baker. “Your vote on Grinnell Mutual’s Facebook page will decide which projects will receive grants.”

Grinnell Mutual will announce the finalists Tuesday, November 11, at 12 p.m. CT. Any Facebook user can vote for a project finalist through Working Together Making It Better. Voting will end Tuesday, November 25, at 11:59 a.m. CT. The three finalists with the most votes will receive $2,000, $1,000, and $500, respectively.
