Ironistic Launches Website Upgrades for World Food Day, Focuses on Family Farming Theme
Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) September 26, 2014 -- On Oct 16, people from around the world will come together to declare their commitment to create a world free from hunger and malnutrition. The theme for World Food Day 2014 is Family Farming: Feeding the World, Caring for the Earth. World Food Day marks the founding day of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) who manages the World Food Day North America website – http://www.worldfooddayusa.org. Each year the site requires significant visual and functional upgrades to reflect the annual theme. Working on the NationBuilder platform, Ironistic constructed a new visual layout and functionality enhancements throughout the website in order to improve the reach and impact of the website.
Key upgrades for the website completed by Ironistic include
- enhanced visual call-to-action elements that promote and perpetuate the World Food Day theme and messaging for 2014,
- improved engagement points for visitors to take action, participate in events, and access resources,
- integration with the #ToastAFarmer, #WFD2014 social media campaign, and development of the platform for the 2014 Perspectives – an essay series that calls upon various perspectives to highlight the future of family farming.
“The new World Food Day website is now better positioned to promote the Family Farming theme and to better engage visitors,” said Ironistic President, Chris Foss. “Our team took great pride in working with FAO on this important global initiative to end hunger.”
“805 million people in the world still suffer from chronic hunger, but the number is decreasing because of the growing focus on concrete changes from the local to national levels. On World Food Day, FAO and the World Food Day Network work to keep the focus strong and engage more people in the movement to end hunger. The website improvements by Ironistic focused our messaging and integrated all of our communications platforms which will make it easier for more people to take action this World Food Day,” states FAO Partnership and Outreach Coordinator Amy McMillen. “With the excellent team at Ironistic, we were able to boost World Food Day’s reach and effectiveness. #WFD2014.”
About the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and World Food Day
Achieving food security for all is at the heart of the Food And Agriculture Organization of the United Nations’ (FAO) efforts – to make sure people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives. FAO’s three main goals are: the eradication of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition; the elimination of poverty and the driving forward of economic and social progress for all; and, the sustainable management and utilization of natural resources, including land, water, air, climate and genetic resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
World Food Day is a day of action against hunger. First established in 1979, World Food Day marks the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on 16 October 1945 in Quebec, Canada, World Food Day has since been observed in almost every country by millions of people. In North America, grassroots events and public awareness campaigns engage diverse audiences in action against hunger. From hunger walks and World Food Day dinners to meal packaging events and food drives, there are many ways for people to be a part of solutions to hunger. Each year, advocates come together to raise awareness and engage Americans and Canadians in the movement to end hunger. Led by the FAO Liaison Office for North America, the World Food Day USA & Canada Network includes over 60 organizations, universities and companies that are working to achieve a zero hunger world.
