A father can be a model for change – just ask Vancouver-based brother / sister entrepreneurial duo Jordan and James Achilles.

When Jordan & James were young, father Allen Achilles wasn’t overly impressed with the content his kids were observing on the internet and social networking sites. So he diverted his attention from his successful entrepreneurial pursuits and created http://www.kidzworld.com; with the entire family now involved.

Like the Kevin Costner movie ‘Field of Dreams’, Kidzworld is a classic family story of ‘Build it...and they will come” – and the results are impressive and the headlights are bright.

The site is cloud-based with more than 2 million monthly visitors and growing; viewing about 18.5 million pages of content per month from over 200 countries. The new mobile version of the website extends the Kidzworld brand and provides significant growth and revenue opportunities. With Kelowna-based kid portal Club Penguin selling to Disney a few years back for $350 million USD, corporations and tech companies are keen to bolster their reach for value-add aggregators to groom into their content pipeline.

While father Allen oversees operations, daughter Jordan manages content, advertising and membership; Brother James manages the technology, development and site performance as Kidzworld evolves and grows.

Kidzworld’s user to user interaction is moderated using sophisticated behavioral analysis software managing user behavior with a team of senior and junior moderators. Sophisticated algorithms spot inappropriate context within online conversations; then analyzes a variety of signals from the conversation and the user’s reputation to categorize the underlying behavior and take appropriate action - all in real time, with no delay or lag.
