"Client was justly compensated for all she has been through in the past and will continue to go though in the future. " Attorney Matt Kobren
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) September 29, 2014
According to court documents, Glotzer & Kobren, P.A. succeeded in obtaining a $2.5 million jury verdict last week for a 39 year old Boca Raton woman*. Andrea Thompson was injured on an improperly constructed exterior sidewalk at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton, FL. Ms. Thompson fell and crushed her knee in 2009 while walking on a sidewalk that the Church knew was dangerous when wet due to a similar incident two weeks before Ms. Thompson's fall. Ms. Thompson has undergone four knee surgeries as a result of her injuries from the fall and will need at least two total knee replacement surgeries in the future.
During the court proceedings, the attorneys at Glotzer & Kobren discovered that the construction company that built the subject sidewalk failed to use the proper materials to make the exterior sidewalk safe for pedestrians during wet weather. Additionally, the attorneys at Glotzer & Kobren discovered that the Diocese of Palm Beach, which operates Ascension Catholic Church, failed to investigate the dangerous condition of the sidewalk that was brought to their attention two weeks before Ms. Thompson's fall because the church member that reported the problem wasn't making a claim for damages. The Diocese chose not to conduct an investigation which would have revealed the dangerous condition of the sidewalk and prevented Ms. Thompson's fall. During the course of the litigation, the Defendant's highest settlement offer was $500,000.00, which Glotzer & Kobren rejected, leading to the jury awarding Ms. Thompson a $2.5 million verdict after a four day trial.
