The October Pink Shops Kick off September 24

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (NASDAQ: BONT) which operates Bon-Ton, Boston Store, Bergner’s, Carson’s, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers stores kicked off its annual trademarked program, Charge Against Breast Cancer™, October Pink Shops on September 24. The program will run in all Bon-Ton department stores throughout the month of October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year’s beneficiaries include: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa, The Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation, and Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota. Bon-Ton has donated $4.6 million to these charities throughout the years.

“Our company is committed to the fight against breast cancer,” said Kathryn Bufano, president and chief executive officer of The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. Ms. Bufano continued, “Breast cancer awareness and research is important to many of our customers and associates and we hope that our programs will help make a difference in finding a cure for this disease.”

Customers can show their support by purchasing any of the over 30 items that are available in the October Pink Shops at any Bon-Ton store or online at http://www.bonton.com. Merchandise items include a selection of women’s apparel, accessories, cosmetics, and home items that will be sold in the Pink Shops outposts in each store. Items include a black make-up brush set with pink brush tips, a specially designed reusable tote bag, a set of 50 pink Living Quarters velvet hangers, a plush bathrobe in pink with white polka dots, a pink and white plaid pajama set, a patterned Anne Klein silk scarf, a pink and navy blue striped Anne Klein shirt with zipper details, Pink Kettle Corn from The Popcorn Factory, specially packaged Advanced Night Repair cream by Estee Lauder and Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion from Clinique. Bon-Ton customers are also given the opportunity to be involved in this important cause throughout the year with the Charge Against Breast Cancer™ program. The Company will make a donation to fund breast cancer research every time a customer uses his or her Bon-Ton credit card to make a purchase.
