Clinical examination reveals a quarter-sized ulceration with purulent drainage on the right calf. Dr. C’s recommendations include antibiotics, an adjustment to her insulin dosage for a blood sugar level of 389, referral to a vascular specialist, additional tests, and a follow up visit. He also reminds her to submit her blood sugar diaries to the office for closer monitoring.
