Social Solutions Congratulates Friends of Island Academy on Receipt of the Step Up: Breaking Cycles of Father Absence and Incarceration Award
Baltimore, MD; New York, NY (PRWEB) September 26, 2014 -- Social Solutions Global, Inc., the leading provider of performance management software for human services, congratulates client Friends of Island Academy (FoIA) on their receipt of the Step Up: Breaking Cycles of Father Absence and Incarceration grant award as a part of the Second Chance Act Strengthening Relationships Between Young Fathers and Their Children: A Reentry Mentoring Project.
The grant award funds mentoring and comprehensive transitional services, emphasizing developing parenting skills, to offenders who are young fathers to help ensure that the transition young fathers make from secure confinement facilities back to their families and their communities is successful and promotes public safety.
FoIA serves young people with an evidence-based cognitive-behavioral curriculum and connects them to services post-release in order to break intergenerational cycles of incarceration. Their Responsible Fatherhood program provides a strength-based, comprehensive program to promote responsible fatherhood with an emphasis on a father's commitment, support and engagement in the lives of their children.
The Responsible Fatherhood program provides young men services including: individual counseling, anger management services, court advocacy (child support, visitation and custody matters), domestic violence/batterers intervention services, intensive case management, and informative/educational workshops that focus on parenting skills, conflict resolution/mediation, financial literacy, healthy relationships and life skills. The program also provides assistance and referrals for employment, vocational training, housing and educational services as needed.
Step Up will be integrated with Friends' core Youth Advocacy services to provide transitional and post-release neighborhood-based advocacy and case management supports and services. The Step Up award comes in addition to FoIA’s work as the service provider for the United States’ first Social Impact Bond, delivering the Adolescent Behavioral Learning Experience (ABLE) program to reduce recidivism.
Friends of Island Academy utilizes Social Solutions Efforts to Outcomes (ETO®) software to support participant data tracking and reporting for services.
