Garth Brooks, one of the most loved country artists of all time is currently out on the Garth Brooks World Tour with wife, Trisha Yearwood. The country legend is a loved live performer and has always been known as a performer that puts on a remarkable show. Since the announcement of his tour, he has added dates throughout the United States including his most recent announcement, adding two stops at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky, on October 31 and November 1. The 52-year-old native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, entered the music business in 1984 and aside from a five year hiatus from 2001 to 2005, has been putting out music that his fans have loved. Over the course of his career, he has released nine studio albums, one live album, four compilation releases and has been honored with some of the most prestigious accolades in sports including being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, two Grammy Awards, 17 American Music Awards, and was even honored by the Recording Industry Association of America as the Best Selling solo albums artist of the Century in the United States.
He released his self-title debut album in 1989 and the album reached as high as the No. 2 spot on the American country charts. It also achieved Diamond certification from the RIAA for selling more than 10 million copies. It was his first of six albums to earn that distinction, being joined by No Fences, Ropin’ the Wind, Sevens, The Hits, and Double Live. The latter was certified Platinum by the RIAA 21 times, earning Diamond certification double.
Joining him on tour is his wife, Trisha Yearwood. Yearwood is a popular country performer in her own right. She entered the music business in 1989 and has sold more than 12.5 million records during her career. She has won three Grammy Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, one American Music Award, and three Country Music Association Awards. Most recently, fans will have seen her on her cooking series on the Food Network, which she received an Emmy Award for.
The Rupp Arena is a multi-purpose facility that opened in 1976. The venue is home to the Kentucky Wildcats Men’s Basketball team and can seat anywhere from 5,000 to 24,500 fans for a concert. When Brooks and Yearwood perform here in the fall, fans will pack the venue to the rafters for a chance to see this show.
