New Bill Gives Hope To Lyme Community
Delmar, NY (PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- The recognition of epidemic Lyme Disease became apparent Friday, September 19th – when the House passed the first ever Lyme bill (Tick-borne Disease Research Transparency and Accountability Act of 2014) – prioritizing federal research on Lyme and giving the patient community a “seat at the table moving forward,” according to a statement released by Congressman Chris Gibson.
“We appreciate the gravity of the Lyme bill passing in the Senate – that is the next critical step in this process,” said Dr. Ronald Stram, owner and founder of The Stram Center for Integrative Medicine. He goes on to say that the Lyme Community has been fighting for a bill that provides legislation to support healthcare professionals treating epidemic Lyme for years.
The Stram Center for Integrative Medicine provides medical and holistic therapies that focus on a patient-centered approach – dedicating a large focus on finding cutting-edge therapies for Lyme Disease. “For those suffering from chronic Lyme,” said Dr. Stram, “it is critical that the Senate passes this bill to give them a voice – and the hope they deserve.”
Specifically, the bill will maximize research priorities resulting in a plan that must include a proposal for improving outcomes of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases, including progress related to chronic or persistent symptoms, infections, and co-infections.
“It will be a monumental stride forward for the Lyme Community if this bill passes in the Senate”, said Dr. Stram. “We will do everything in our power to ensure the bill passes.”
