A New Day Welcomes New Program Director Dr. A. Johnson, PHD
North Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- With background in everything from substance abuse to family and adolescent counseling, Dr. Johnson received her PHD in psychology from The University of Florida in 2004. She has worked in the mental health/psychology/substance abuse field since 1989. She began her work at University of Florida’s Shands Hospital where she worked as a primary therapist diagnosing and treating individuals while facilitating groups and offering patients conflict resolution and life skills. After two years there Dr. Johnson moved to The 45th Street Mental Health Center where she worked as a clinical psychologist evaluating and treating a number of various mental health diagnosis’ for six years. From there she began her work in the field of substance abuse, where she has been for 8 years.
After finding her substance abuse beginnings as a primary therapist at The Watershed, Dr. Johnson began making her way through the substance abuse field implementing programs and revolutionizing the way rehabs treat addiction. Her passion for helping struggling addicts and alcoholics is great and of vital importance in a field where successful treatment programing can mean the difference between someone’s recovery from substance abuse or death. Dr. Johnson has faith in her methods and believes in her clients. She gives hope to those who have none.
Dr. Johnson joined the A New Day family as Program Director in August of 2014 and they couldn’t be happier to have her on board. Dr. Johnson’s goal at A New Day Alcohol & Drug Treatment Center is to “enhance our existing program of substance abuse treatment and maximize our potential, by adding new staff, creating specialty programs and reorganizing the facility. “ Specialty programs such as trauma therapy, gender specific treatment and a strong family program will give A New Day the lead in treating drug and alcohol addiction in Florida.
