San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 08, 2014 -- Switch, the leading website to search and recommend coding courses, launches a major new feature today: Online Courses. The Switch platform becomes the first major coding education aggregator geared toward aspiring software engineers to feature both online courses and offline bootcamps.
"Switch's top priority is to help people switch into a tech career by discovering the learning path that's right for them," said Jonathan Lau, CEO and a coding bootcamp graduate himself. "We want to provide transparency. It's important that students know which programs fail to deliver quality education and which ones are worth checking out."
To this end, Switch publishes unedited reviews of coding bootcamps, interviews various industry figures, offers counseling to students, and connects employers with graduates. By the end of 2014, 10,000 students will graduate from various bootcamps. Switch aims to collect at least 1,000 reviews from this cohort by early 2015.
Switch platform's addition of online courses will further broaden educational possibilities for new potential students, particularly for those that seek self-paced or more inexpensive options. Courses from Code Academy, Treehouse, Coursera, and other online providers are integrated into the platform. Switch allows visitors to search based on various filters such as course subject, location, price, and rating, and also recommends courses based on a mini career quiz.
"There's so many different tutorials out there," said Jeremy Schwartz, CTO and a self-taught developer. "We brought them all together in one place so students can not only easily navigate courses on back-end web development, data science, and mobile app design, but so that they could also begin to think about education as a lifelong process."
“Our long-term vision for Switch is to help people customize a curriculum for themselves,” Lau added. "There are a lot of resources, but deciding which one to start with or to use can be the hardest part. Our platform will solve that problem."
