Interloc announces that an electric utility located in the southeast recently implemented Interloc's Mobile Informer for Maximo solution. The solution: An integrated Maximo mobile solution to manage their inventorying process for their various distributed warehouses. On completion of their first wall-to-wall counts for their seven warehouses, they realized a greater than 50% increase in productivity.
With the explosive growth of the mobile market, the company knew that the time was right to extend their Maximo implementation with a mobile solution. Their search criteria included a solution that was intuitive to their end users, native to Maximo (they did not want additional middleware to maintain), and able to work in connected and disconnected modes. They also wanted smart synchronization – that is, an application that is smart enough to synch when connected but doesn’t stop working when disconnected.
This solution came in the form of Mobile Informer for the field and supply chain staff and Interloc Mailer for all Maximo users. This meets the needs of both their field and corporate staff.
- The Mobile Informer solution was selected to address Inventory Management and Work Management needs of the company.
- The Interloc Mailer was chosen for all the Maximo users to give them a way to approve and/or take action on requests directly from their mobile device without the need to log onto Maximo.

The Results are In
This utility just completed their first wall-to-wall inventory using their Mobile Informer solution. The mobile benefits of increased accuracy, productivity and portability speak for themselves. At one facility, for example, man-hours to complete a wall-to-wall count dropped from a staggering 512-hour task to a 238-hour task, with a decrease in paperwork associated with the inventory of more than 75%. Similar results were seen across their six other warehouses. Using the system, they were able to perform first reconciled counts in record time.
Their mobile users are excited about their new tool and are eagerly awaiting the next steps for the Mobile Informer evolution. Enhancements in the works include a second count option, the ability to stage material and use of built-in barcoding technology.
